Walter and Tabitha Jones arrived in the Colony in the 1830's. Walter with one or two sons arrived on the 'Egyptian' in February 1830 and his wife Tabitha with the remainder of their nine children arrived on the 'James Pattison' in June 1834. The couple married 27 June 1807 in Carmathen, Wales. The Jones family settled in Guildford where Walter was an Inn-Keeper/Publican at Woodbridge with some of his sons. Had Guildford Lots 27 & 37. Eldest son Abraham was in partnership with his brothers at the Woodbridge Inn. Abraham became Postmaster at Guildford and also conducted a small school for settlers sons and aboriginal children in 1841. Walter died 14 May 1868 at Guildford. His wife Tabitha died 25 October 1872. There is a possibility that George Williams (Henty) arrived with Tabitha and her children.
