Qualified for a grant of 1280 acres. Went to Augusta May 1830 where he was in charge of four sailors and was also appointed Deputy Harbour Master there. He returned to Perth in 1832 where he was appointed Sheriff of the Colony. Richard departed the Colony for England per the 'Cornwallis' in February 1833.
