Second-in-charge to Surveyor General J.S. Roe. Assistant Surveyor at Albany in 1832 to replace Raphael Clint. Explored and surveyed much of the Perth-Albany Road. Had Perth Lots L67 in 1832, Albany Sub B7 in 1832 and Lots B12, S12, and N83 in 1833. In 1834 Augusta Lot 4 and Sub S. Allocated 2,560 acres which he took in the Plantagenet district. Married Elizabeth 18 November 1840 at Perth. Alfred died 31 January 1883 in England. Elizabeth died 2 June 1901 at Albany. Further reading: 'The Hillman Diaries'.
