James married 6 July 1846 Amelia Ridley (born c 1810) (nee Collins). Amelia was the widow of Edward Ridley. Amelia arrived per the 'Simon Taylor' on 20 August 1842. James was listed in York census in 1859 as a farmer. He employed four ticket-of-leave men.
