Arrived Van Diemens Land per the 'Woodlark'. In February 1830 he was employed by Henry Trigg, but applied for a clerk's post. On 21 September 1832 he was employed by the Government Storekeeper - John Morgan to assist in transfer of stores from Garden Island to Perth mainland. Made a living as a Swan River boatman. He was tried at January sessions in 1833 for larceny and was acquitted.
