John was a veteran of the Peninsula War and Waterloo. Discharged in the Colony and joined the Police Force. John married Harriet King (widow) 14 March 1831 at Perth. Had 200 acres in the Avon district - Avon Loc. 13 at Toodyay. Had Perth Lot V19 in 1833. John married for a second time to Frances Savage 26 January 1867. Frances arrived on the 'Phoebe Dunbar' in 1853. Death date of Harriet not known at this time. John died 19 September 1877 at Perth. Frances died in 1882 aged 58 years.
