Married for a first time on 5 January 1835 at Perth to Anna Hunt. Anna died 21 July 1850. Alfred married a second time to Ann Coombs 18 February 1851. His first wife was servant to Mr Harris and was illiterate. He was a servant to Marshall McDermott who chartered the 'Sterling'. He extracted gas from blackboys for lighting his house in 1849. Installed Rottnest Lighthouse machinery in 1851. Cheriton Mill in 1855. Applied to lease land at Greenough in 1859. Erected Perth's first pipe organ in Wesley Church in 1875. Installed first steam driven press for the 'West Australian' in the 1880's. Alfred Carson died 6 September 1888. Ann (second wife) died 20 June 1869.
