Benjamin Joyce arrived with the Heal/Morgan party. He was a servant of Abraham Morgan and was a carpenter by trade. During the first six months of his arrival he worked with Morgan constructing houses for settlers. In June/July of 1830 he caught typhoid fever. Despite hospital treatment at two pounds per week he died 10 July 1830. Benjamin is buried in the East Perth Cemetery.
