Married December 1843 to Vittoria (daughter of Captain RG Meares). Granted 8053 acres, settled first at Upper Swan, then transferred to York as farmer and pastoralist on property 'Tipperary'. Samuel was a member of Hillman's expedition of 1835 to Williams and Hotham Rivers. Was a JP, Member of York Agricultural Society in 1847, York Race Club and York Board of Education. Employed nearly 100 ticket-of-leave men at 'Tipperary'. Retired to Perth in 1879 at 'Carlton House' with his brother. Samuel died 24 May 1885 at Perth, his wife Vittoria died 4 October 1891 at East Perth.
