George Williams remains a mystery as to his origins or arrival in the Colony. Family stories relate that he arrived as a small child in the care of a family named Jones with whom he lived and later worked as a lad in Guildford. Documentary evidence (1836 Census) seems to support the theory that this was the family of Walter and Tabitha Jones. Tabitha arrived in the 'James Pattison' with some of her children in 1834. George married Selina Bradley daughter of Benjamin (Solicitor) born England 1827 on 12 February 1847 at Guildford. George farmed in the Beverley district at 'Waterhall' (Waterhole) and when he died on 18 November 1857 he was farming the 'Goonderding' property. Before he married he was told that his name was really 'Henty' but did not obtain proof of this. He added Henty to his name on his marriage certificate and added Henty to the names of three of his four children. He was illiterate and his religion was Church of England.
