Arrived as servants to John and Rebecca Simmonds (or Symmons). The Muster Roll suggests they came from Sussex, but all available information suggests they came from Southwell, Nottinghamshire. John Miles and Elizabeth Howett were married at Southwell on 28 February 1829; they did not have any children born at Swan River and may have left on the ship 'Eagle' 1831 for Van Diemens Land where their first child Eliza was born 11 August 1832.
