Originally settled at Augusta with brothers Alfred, Charles and Vernon, then moved to Vasse. John was a B.A. of Trinity College, Oxford, England. Departed the Colony in 1837. Married England 22 August 1838 - Charlotte Cookworthy (nee Spicer). They came back on the 'Montreal' 22 May 1839. Member of Legislative Council 1870-1872. John Garrett died 21 September 1875 and is buried at St Mary's Churchyard at Busselton and Charlotte died in Paris, France 1901.
