Stephen was employed on the first Government buildings on Garden Island and Perth. He went to Albany to work for the government and returned to the Swan River per the 'Eagle' in January 1832. Had land at Guildford Lot 139 in 1833. Returned to Albany as a Tidewaiter in 1839. Married 12 December 1835 at Perth. Was a schoolmaster in November 1840. Bought several town lots. He was a a Clerk to the Resident Magistrate and Postmaster 1864-1884. Lucy was a schoolmistress between the years 1853-4. Stephen died 29 March 1881 and Lucy died 20 July 1884 at King George's Sound.
