John arrived with brother Robert Ferres. Was entitled to land grants of 2760 acres. He also had Town Lots at Fremantle 284 & 285. Trained as a barrister but for want of briefs, John turned to business and with Richard Lewis contracted to build the Round House Fremantle. John died 3 October 1830. Janet remarried William Alfred Manning in July 1833. Robert Ferres continued and finished the building.
