The family first settled in Perth but by 1833 they had moved to Middle Swan where Daniel worked as a labourer. Most of their children were born at Upper Swan. He had formed a partnership with George Simkins who arrived per 'Drummore' on 1 February 1831.This was dissolved on 26 November 1836 and on the same date announced his intention of leaving the Colony. Allocated Lots in 1833 but on 26 January 1842 he lost Guildford Town Lots 133 and 134 due to non payment of location dues. In 1846 Daniel was farming in the Northam district. Jane died 20 July 1857 at Dale River, Beverley and is buried at St Peters Church Gilgering. Daniel died September 1862 at York.
