Brother of Captain WH Armstrong. Established the military station in Kojonup in 1836 and was also a JP at Albany in the same year. Promoted to Lieutenant in 1837. Transferred to Vasse district where he died at 'Cattle Chosen' on 8 September 1838 of exposure when lost in the bush.
