Brother of Lieutenant Charles Armstrong. Was in charge of the 21st Regiment after the death of Captain Daniel and the departure of Captain Beete. Promoted a whaling venture at Fremantle in 1837. Made a will at Swan River 13 May 1841. Captain Armstrong died at Fort William, Calcutta 28 November 1841. It was at this time the Regiment was severely suffering from a cholera epidemic.
