Nephew of Thomas and Catherine Davis. Came out on the 'Parmelia' as a thirteen year old. Employed at public works at Garden Island 1829. John joined the Carnac Whaling Co as a member of the crew on the whaling ship 'Settler'. The ship was wrecked and the crew were lost off Fremantle on 8 July 1837.
