Married 29 October 1820 at Surrey, England. He was a merchant and lay preacher in his own Octagonal Church at Albany in 1836. Thomas was a Postmaster in 1842. Amelia died in Albany 23 July 1842. The death of his wife and a long legal dispute over the ship 'Emma Sherratt' lead him to have a mental breakdown. His affairs were managed by his son-in-law Hugh McDonald after 1843. Thomas died 20 May 1857.
