Swan River Pioneers 1829 -1838  Inc.

The History of the Organisation

The Swan River Pioneers  1829 - 1838 was formed early in 1993, as a

Special Interest Group of the Western Australian Genealogical Society Inc.

In July 2017 the Group was incorporated and became an Affiliated Member of the WA Genealogical Society Inc. now known as Family History WA

The era 1829-1838 was chosen as this was the period of Sir James Stirling's administration. His administration as Governor ended on 31st December 1838. On January 5th 1839 he departed the Colony with Lady Ellen Stirling and their family.

We produce 'Certificates of Descendancy' for those who can prove their

direct line of descent from the early pioneers who arrived in the Swan River Colony between 1829-1838 - the period of Sir James Stirling's governorship.
