The Thomas Peel Scheme
Three ships of settlers arrived under the Thomas Peel
scheme. The settlers were promised land but unfortunately the
first ship the 'Gilmore'arrived too late (15th December 1829) and hence the land promised to the settlers never eventuated.
Other ships were the 'Hooghly' arrived 12th February 1830 and the 'Rockingham' arrived 14th May 1830.
The loss of the land promised to Thomas Peel caused great hardships to the settlers.
