John married Rebecca in Kent on 9 February 1813. It is believed John Pettit was indentured to Thomas Peel. When the venture failed the family moved to Vasse where they were engaged in farming enterprises.

Had land at Perth Lots M5 and N5 in 1832.

Some of the family relocated to Northam, York and Toodyay districts.

John died 20 June 1845 and Rebecca died 10 July 1879 in Busselton, Western Australia..
